Development of Function-integrated Structural Composites for Aerospace Application

  

Biography

Xiao-Su YI (Prof. Dr.-Ing.)

Dipl.-Ing. (M.S.) and Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D.) degree in Material Engineering at University of Paderborn, Germany. Executive director of CCIC, LDS Chair Professor in Composite Materials and Technology of UNNC, Fellow of SAMPE (F. SAMPE) and Academician of APAM (Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials). He was also former AVIC Chief Scientist on Composites, Director of the National Engineering Laboratory of Carbon-fiber Structural Composites and Beijing Engineering Laboratory of Green Composites. He published about 400 papers, 10 books and 60 invention patents. His research interests in structural composites, polymer materials, functional composites, process engineering, materials modelling, adhesive bonding and surface technology.

 

Professor Quan-hong YANG, Tianjin University

Presentation Title

A 1000 Wh/L lithium-ion battery enabled with shrinking graphene caged microparticulate silicon anodes


Biography

Quan-Hong Yang is a Chang Jiang Scholar Chair Professor of School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Tianjin University and the winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. His research is totally related to nanocarbons and other low dimensional materials, and their applications in advanced electrochemical energy storage. Specially, his recent interests mainly focus on materials design for compact energy storage devices, catalysis in lithium-sulfur batteries, and carbon design for advanced batteries. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers with citations over 30,000 times and H-index of 97. He is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher and among Most Cited Chinese Researchers by Elsevier. He holds over 40 patents about nanocarbons and batteries. He received National Award for Technological Invention (2nd class, 2017), Nature Science Award of Tianjin (1st class, 2013), the Science and Technology Progress Award of Tianjin (1st class, 2012), Technological Invention Award of Tianjin (2018) and the Brian Kelly Award (British Carbon Group, 2004). He serves as Associate Editor for Energy Storage Materials and the members of the editorial boards for ten journals including Advanced Energy Materials, Carbon and Science China Materials.


Professor Qiang FU, Sichuan university

Control of Hierarchical Structure of Polymer Articles via “Structuring Processing”

Biography

Qiang Fu is currently the professor at the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering, Sichuan University. Dr. Fu’ research interests have been focused on high-performance and multi-functionality of polymer blends and composites, and processing-structure/morphology-performance relationship of polymer materials. Dr. Fu has published more than 400 peer-reviewed papers and books, as well as 35 national patents of China. He is now serving as editor for the journal of Polymer.


Professor Sergey Zherebtsov, Belgorod State University

Presentation Title

Thermomechanical treatment of metal matrix composites



Sergey Zherebtsov was graduated from Ufa State Aviation Technical University. In the year 2002, he received PhD degree in Materials Sciences (Institute for Metals Superplasticity Problems, Ufa, Russia), and in the year 2013 Dr. habil. (Ural Federal University, Ekaterinburg, Russia). He worked at Institute for Metals Superplasticity Problems till 2007. For three years (2003-2006) he worked as a Researcher at Ibaraki University, Hitachi, Japan. From the year 2008 he has been working in Belgorod State University, Belgorod, Russia. Currently he is a Professor of Department of Material Science and Nanotechnology and a Leading Researcher in Laboratory of Bulk Nanostructured Materials. His research interests include: deformation induced structure formation in titanium alloys, high-entropy alloys and metal-matrix composites; extensive TEM/SEM/EBSD studies of structural changes during plastic deformation; evaluation of mechanical properties of metals and alloys; processing of metallic materials. He has published more than 170 papers in high-quality journals. According to Scopus, his h-index is 36, and the number of citations exceeds 5100. He is a member of the International Conference on Superplasticity in Advanced Materials organizing committee and a member of the Metals and Materials (published by MDPI) Editorial boards.


Professor Yusheng Shi, Huazhong University of Science and Technology

High-performance fiber-reinforced composite materials manufactured by robotic laser additive manufacturing technology

 

 

Biography

Prof. Yusheng Shi, born in 1962, acting as the Huazhong Scholar leading Special Term Professor in Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), is now undertaking several duties including chief scientist at Innovation Special Zone Expert Group of National Defense Sci. & Tech. and vice chairman of National Technical Committee of Additive Manufacturing Standardization.

He won 1 item of China’s top 10 Scientific and Technological Progress, 1 second prize  of National Technological Invention Award, and 2 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award.

He also got the outstanding award of China invention, the contemporary inventor, top 10 outstanding invention person of China science, award nomination for top 10 national outstanding scientific and technical worker, special national government allowance, etc.

The Rapid Manufacturing Center led by him is one of the earliest teams engaged in the research and development of additive manufacturing in China. The research and development are carried out for the whole chain of additive manufacturing equipment, materials, software, processes, applications, etc. His group has been selected as the innovation group of Ministry of Education and Hubei province.


Professor Shuguang Li, University of Nottingham,UK

Presentation Title 

The Tsai-Wu failure criterion: Its full rationalization and implications

 

Biography

Professor of Aerospace Composites, a part of the Institute for Aerospace Technology, Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham, UK.  Obtained his PhD from University of Manchester in 1993.  Appointed to his present position in 2012.

One of advisors to the 2nd World Wide Failure Exercise for polymer composites (on 3D failure theories).  One of the organisers for the 3rd Exercise of the same (on damage theories).  The outcomes have been published in Journal of Composite Materials.  He is on the editorial board of International Journal of Mechanical Sciences.  He is a visiting professor of NUAA and Zhejiang University, China.  

Published well over 100 academic papers.  Main research interest in the area of analysis of composite materials and structures, in particular, on subjects of modelling damage and failure, micromechanics and material characterisation in recent years.  As an outcome of his research on micromechanical modelling of composites, a monograph entitled ‘Representative Volume Elements and Unit Cells ¾ Concepts, Theory, Applications and Implementation’ published by Elsevier in 2020.  


Dr. Dongsheng Li, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC)

Presentation Title  

Application of Composite Materials in COMAC Aircraft Structures




Dr. Dongsheng Li, Chief Engineer of Composites, COMAC; Fellow of Royal Aeronautical Society of the UK. Dr Li obtained his PhD from Bristol University in the UK. He worked for Airbus in Europe for many years with technical and management responsibilities. He has been Industrial Ph.D. supervisors for Imperial College London, Bristol University and Bath University in the UK. He has also worked as Vice President of COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design & Research Institute, and Acting President of COMAC R&T Centre in Beijing. Dr. Li has many years of experience in industry and academia in both China and Europe. He is widely known as an expert in composite structures and has worked on many aircraft programs.


Professor Jinglei YANG , Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Presentation Title  

Green Manufacturing Technologies of Thermoplastic-based FRP Composites: Current Situation and Future Development


Biography

Dr YANG Jinglei is a Professor of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is concurrently serving as General Director of HKUST Shenzhen Research Institute, General Director of HKUST Shenzhen-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Research Institute, General Manager of HKUST R&D Corporation (Shenzhen) Ltd., Executive Founding Director of HKUST-Bright Dream Robotics Joint Research Institute, and Director of Center for Engineering Materials and Reliability @ FYTRI. He is the Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and Royal Society of Chemistry. He was included in the top 0.5% list among the global materials scientists assessed by Academic Impact by Year 2020 in a Stanford research. His research interests include interfacial science and engineering, microencapsulation and green nanomaterials, composites and mechanics, AI+Robotics empowered novel materials discovery ecosystem. He is the editorial board member or associate editor of Composites Communications, Functional Composites and Structures, Journal of Micromechanics and Molecular Physics, and others. He published more than 170 journal papers and was granted more than 10 patents.




Professor Jianguo GUAN, Wuhan University of Technology

Presentation Title  

Construction, Propulsion and Applications of Micro-/nanomotors

Biography

Chief Professor of Materials Science affiliated with Wuhan University of Technology, Deputy director of State Key Laboratory of advanced technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, leader of the innovation team in the key fields of MOST, China.  He has presided over more than 20 national important scientific research projects such as the national key R&D plan project and 863 plan projets.  He has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers in internationally renowned journals including Chem. Rev., Chem. Soc. Rev., Adv. Mater., Natl. Sci. Rev., Matter and Nat. Commun., and received more than 12,000 citations. He has 56 granted invention patents.  He was elected to be an executive member of the Chinese Society of Micro & Nano Technology and the Chinese Society of Optical Engineering, as well as editorial board members for several international well-known academic journals. He won a number of honorary titles and awards, including the national "ten thousand project" science and technology talents, Changjiang scholar distinguished professor of MOE, Fellow of the Royal Chemical Society, Fellow of the Chinese society of micron nanotechnology, and Second Prize of Higher Education National Teaching Achievement Award.
