Session Information

Polymer Matrix Composites (PMCs) are the most familiar composites. The load carrying fibers are mainly glass fibers, carbon fibers, aramid fibers or even natural fibres like hemp or flax. The corresponding matrix materials are polyester resin, epoxy resin, and thermoplastics like polylactide. PMCs offer certain advantages over metallic materials such as high strength-to-weight ratio, low thermal conductivity, dampening, corrosion resistance, etc. They are widely used in modern life in the form of products ranged from device components to a massive collection of automotive components owing to their inexpensive and simple and amenable fabrication techniques.
