Session Information

Textile-based composites are materials that contain fibers, yarns or fabrics in their composition. They have unique advantages such as high specific strength, high specific stiffness and light weight, and they also have the potential to cross multiple disciplines such as mechanics and electronics to develop designable material structures. The application fields of textile composite materials are constantly expanding from a single military field in the early days to many fields such as civil, transportation, industrial installations, aerospace, sports and entertainment. High-specification composite materials can be precisely engineered to suit applications with confidence thanks to new imaging techniques. Textile-based composites in particular offer great potential in creating light-weight damage-tolerant structures.
