Session Information and Topics

This session will focus on the optimization design/ modeling and simulation of composite materials and structures (automotive, aerospace, marine and civil engineering); including, but not limited to, the following areas:

1.     Designning, including structure-property relationships, design theory, multi-functional design and simulation.

2.     Multiscale modelling, including nano-mechanics and micromechanical model.

3.     Optimization, including bio-inspired design and computational optimization methods.

4.     Failure analysis, including application of failure criteria and damage mechanism of structures.

5.     Reviews, including the latest progress in application, design and optimization.

Prof. Xitao Zheng

Northwestern Polytechnical University

Professor Dr. Xitao Zheng work in the School of Aeronautics, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), Xi’an, China. Presently he is the director of Institute of Aircraft Composite Structure, NPU. And the executive director of Chinese Society of Composite Materials (CSCM), member of a council of the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM), SAMPE General Council of China, executive director and Secretary General of Shaanxi Provincial Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. He is also a member and secretary-general of the aerospace and weapons Working Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial College Teaching Steering Committee and vice president of the Teaching Method Research Association of NPU.

He has been engaged in research on structural mechanical behavior of aviation composite materials for more than 30 years. His interested field: Composite mechanics, Damage mechanism and Fatigue life prediction on composites, Hygrothermal effect on composites and Computational mechanics.

He won one second prize and three third prizes of provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological progress, and one first prize of Shaanxi University Science and technology. He has co-authored 3 Monographs, CO translated 1 Monograph, edited 1 textbook, published more than 140 papers in domestic and foreign academic journals and conferences, and 6 Chinese patents.

He won the honorary titles of national excellent mechanics teacher of CSTAM, "Baogang" excellent teacher award, national excellent undergraduate graduation thesis instructor, best instructor award of national student innovation competition, NPU teacher ethics model, most satisfied teacher, excellent head teacher and so on.



Professor Chun-Hui Wang

University of New South Wales

Professor Chun-Hui Wang is the Head of School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. He was elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering in 2018 in recognition of his significant achievements and leadership in research and impact. He is the Director of a newly funded ARC Research Hub for Connected Sensors for Health established in 2021, which brings together over 30 companies and 63 investigators to co-design, verify, and certify connected health sensors. He leads a research group focused on multifunctional composite materials for sensors, actuators, energy storage, and carbon fibre composites for the storage and transport of liquid hydrogen at cryogenic temperatures.

 


Professor Xiaohua Nie

China Aircraft Strength Research Institute

Professor Xiaohua Nie is the vice-chief engineer of computational mechanics major in China Aircraft Strength Research Institute. She was elected the chief technical expert in CAD/CAE/CAM/PDM field of AVIC (Aviation Industry Corporation of China, Ltd.). She has won the honorary titles of Shaanxi March-Eighth Red-Banner Pacesetter and the most beautiful scientific and technological worker in Xi'an. In recent years, she has won 1 National Science and technology progress award, 3 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards, more than 10 other provincial and ministerial awards, presided over or participated in more than 10 national major projects, and participated in the preparation of 3 monographs.
